We are thrilled to welcome you soon for our wedding in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. We know you might not be familiar with the city and will try to make things as easy as possible for you! You will find below all the key info for the big day, but if you have any other questions please feel free to reach out, our contact details are at the bottom of the page.
The wedding will be taking place in the Old Town part of Edinburgh, on Saturday 8th of November 2025.
Both locations are 5 minutes walk apart.
1pm - the Civil Ceremony will take place at the Edinburgh City Chambers, in the Council Chambers room, and should last around 1 hour.
Followed by - we will head to The Caves for the reception: drinks and canapes will be served, followed by a wedding breakfast (the name of the first meal shared by the now husband and wife!) and then a party until late!
1pm - Edinburgh City Chambers
253 High St, Edinburgh EH1 1YJ
Followed by - The Caves
12 Niddry St S, Edinburgh EH1 1NS
Being the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh is very easy to reach wherever you are coming from.
We recommend you travel the day before at the latest to avoid any last minute delays or cancellations that might make you miss part of the day!
IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING FROM THE EU YOU WILL NEED:
- A VALID PASSPORT
- A VISA ETA (SINCE APRIL 2025) : it takes 5 min, costs £16, you should receive the electronic visa between 1h and 3 days later and it's valid for 2 years (so feel free to wait until the weeks just before travelling to apply)
By plane:
From London - 1h15 flight. There are a lot of flights everyday from all London airports, and they can be fairly cheap.
From Paris - 1h50 flight (but thanks to the time difference you will land only 50min later!). On average 5 flights a day from CDG with Easy Jet or Air France.
Transport from the airport:
Taxi: Edinburgh airport is only a 25-min drive from the city centre. A taxi from the taxi rank should cost around £35 to reach the centre. Uber should be around £20.
Tram: runs every 7 to 10 minutes and costs £7.50 for a 35 minute journey.
Bus: the Airlink Bus 100 runs every 10 minutes and costs £5.50. It is generally quicker than the tram, around 30 minute drive.
By train:
From London - direct trains take on average 4h30 from London King's Cross to Edinburgh Waverley (the main train station, in the city centre). Lumo trains are usually cheaper than LNER. Make sure to book a direct train! If you are 2 to travel together it might be worth buying a "Two together" railcard for £30, as you can then save up to 1/3 off the cost of the tickets. Some trains are also departing from London Euston but they take longer (5h45), pay attention when you book! The best way to buy tickets and railcard is on thetrainline.com.
From Paris - Eurostar runs on average 18 trains a day from Paris Gare du Nord to London St Pancras. Eurostar trains are often subject to delays so keep this in mind when booking your journey all the way to Edinburgh. Trains to Edinburgh depart from London Kings Cross which is just in front of London St Pancras (2 minutes walk).
By car:
There won't be any car park in or around both locations on the day, so if you wish to come by car please check ahead for parking facilities.
Edinburgh has a lot of hotels and Airbnbs. We recommend you choose a location close to the city centre (Old Town or New Town) but even if you find something a little bit further out, you can always catch a bus, a tramway, or a Taxi/Uber to move around.
Please make sure to book your accommodation early to avoid crazy prices or lack of availability!
If you are travelling as a group we suggest you rent an Airbnb together as hotel prices can be fairly high in the city. Check our Edinburgh City Guide to learn more about the different neighbourhoods.
Keep in mind that the old town is uphill and sometimes locations can seem close to each other, but there is a steep hill between them!

If you wish to wear a kilt for the wedding you are more than welcome! A lot of guests will be wearing one.
Bear in mind that you can't really wear a kilt on its own, and need to consider the full outfit that goes with: the jacket, the socks, the sporran. You can however wear one of your shirt, tie and pair of shoes.
Buying a kilt can be expensive, so the best alternative is to hire one for the day, it's very easy!
